  • Nasdaq gains, Dow falls 179 points, S&P little changed in Russian driven session

    In another whipsaw session, all three of the major U.S. stock averages fell but closed off the worst levels of the day in a Russian-Ukraine driven trade. The Nasdaq Composite closed with modest gains, while the S&P was marginally lower and the Dow Jones Industrial Average erased a 400+ point deficit to close down 179 points. In commodities, oil rose 4.5% to close at $95.72.
