KFF Explores the Supreme Court's Decision on Emergency Abortion Access
Following the Supreme Court's dismissal of Moyle v. United States, KFF experts examine what the decision means for abortion access for pregnancy-related medical emergencies. We also look at the implications for Idaho and the other five states without health exceptions to their abortion bans, which apply to more than 8 million women of reproductive age (18-49) who live in those states.
Given that the Court didn't rule on the merits of the case and returned the case to lower courts for further proceedings, we examine the potential considerations for this case and similar cases, in addition to discussing questions related to the presidential election.
